I. LOVE. Christmas. Yeah, yeah, I know it’s February. It’s not even July. You know, Christmas in July…?

Anyway. Matt and I are rarely at home for Christmas, and it’s a pain in the ass to carry presents around just so we can open them on actual Christmas Day, so we pick a day before we leave and have our own little “Christmas morning,” with a nice breakfast, mimosas, and present-opening. It’s fun, and then we get TWO Christmases! Can’t argue with that!

This past year was a little bit different. (2020, different?!?! What?!?!? No!) We were home approximately four days from the beginning of November until January 15th. (More on that later) We were hanging out at my parents’ house, and a couple days before Christmas, we figured out that it hadn’t occurred to either of us to get each other anything. Oops.

And so… We decided to just forget about it for the moment, and exchange presents on Valentines Day. We’re not huge Valentines Day people, but at least this way, it would be more special. And WAY more fun!

Thankfully, my parents had some things for us under the tree, and we were actually smart enough to get THEM gifts…. Christmas morning was actually awesome!

ACTUAL Christmas morning.

Fast forward to today, which happens to be Valentines Day… There’s a giant pile of presents waiting for us to open, champagne and orange juice in the fridge, and pancakes waiting to be made. There’s a pitcher of sangria for later, and a pair of big, juicy steaks for dinner tonight. Just a little while longer, and we can start the fun. Goes to show, sometime ya just have to do things a little bit different.
