We have this ridiculous habit of going somewhere before we go somewhere. We did it in 2020 when we took our two week southern Utah road trip, were home for four days, and then left for our (what turned out to be seven week) trip to Ohio and Florida.

We realized that this summer, we’ll be in Hawaii for 17 days (🙌), then be home for four days and leave again for a family wedding in Ohio.

And we’re just starting our four days home between the camping trip to Salida (more on that later) we got home from yesterday and the ten day road trip to Ohio so I can go run a stupid marathon that we leave for on Sunday after work.

It’s always entertaining figuring out the fine balance between having just enough food for while we’re home and not letting anything spoil. It’s doing ALL the laundry, running endless loads for the four days. It’s figuring out what you’re wearing while you’re home and planning what you’re packing. And doing more laundry when you accidentally wear that damned shirt you REALLY want to take with you.

It’s when you realize you need to figure out car rentals for the trip you’re not leaving for yet, but it’s time to get that done before everything sells out. Thank goodness I booked the hotels before we left this time. I keep having to remind myself which trip we’re leaving for in three days.

Oh, and pay no mind to the fact that I’m DETERMINED to get that one last run in, on the same day my work place is celebrating its grand opening…

Whew! Sheer entertainment. Thanks for letting me rant. Good times (and better stories) on the horizon. Thanks for reading, and stay tuned.
