I recently figured out how to work on videos just about anywhere. And I’m not so sure how I feel about it.
Yeah, okay, we’re THOSE people. Or at least, we’re trying to be those people. You know, the ones that have lives interesting enough that other people want to watch and follow along. We’re trying valiantly to start a YouTube channel and do things worth telling stories about.
Thing is, editing those videos takes for-EV-er. Forever. When I first heard other people who do such things say it takes like 40+ hours for one measly little video, I thought “no way!” Um. Boy was I wrong. It probably takes me even longer than that, given that I’m trying to learn on the fly and have to Google how to do fifty-five things per video.
Which leads me to my point in this whole thing. We recently bought a Goal Zero Yeti 500x, capable of charging my laptop at least four or five times before it dies. Which means I can work from anywhere…
A couple weeks ago, we went out to some land we own (more on that later), and cut down some trees and camped and went to the sand dunes… And for a while, I worked. I set myself up on a camp table in a camp chair, and I worked. I GUESS it was somewhat satisfying to be able to do that?

On the other hand, having that battery bank means I can use all the cameras as much as I want without worry about dead batteries, which is nice.
At the end of the day, we want very much for this to be our life. And if that means I have to work from anywhere, I might as well have to tools to make that happen….
