This isn’t only the name of a very good song, it also kind of embodies all the feels that go on this time of year. It’s the last few days of summer, and fall is already in the air, in the smell of the mountains, in the first hints of color in the leaves… And as always, I’m looking back wondering when I blinked and another summer has flown by.

It’s been an incredible summer, really. Two road trips to Ohio (okay, the first one was late spring, but it felt like summer), 17 days in Hawaii, two separate trips to the land to carve out a camping spot for us, a couple trips to Leadville to climb a 14er and pace a friend to a Leadman finish, not to mention countless day trips here or there….

It’s been a long, full, happy summer. But there’s always that sense of nostalgia, that sense of wanting to hold on to the light and the heat for just a little bit longer…

But, if there’s one thing I’ve learned in life, it’s that time keeps moving. Life goes on, and the sun comes up tomorrow. If you’re lucky.

So, as much as I can’t STAND being cold, or winter, or snow, or any of that crap, it’s time. The season is changing. At least we hopefully get some beautiful fall leaves and weather along the way…
