Every year, there’s that weird time after summer ends but before winter hits for real (and the holidays start) that we’re never quite sure what to do with. The weather can be cold or hot, rainy, snowy, or blindingly sunny. If we’re lucky, our days off coincide with the good weather days and we’re off in search of adventures close to home.

And so, we grasp at straws for things to do. We did pretty well this year, truth be told. We found some good hikes, some pretty fall leaves, and a gorgeous waterfall that was already frozen that had the coolest ice bubbles I’ve ever seen. We wandered around downtown Denver a day or two and found awesome ice cream (though not as good as Anita’s in Old San Juan, see that video here), and saw beautiful fall leaves at our local neighborhood park.

Oh, and I manage to find random races to run. I ran a 50K in the Springs with Renee, then attempted a 50 miler in Fruita (also with Renee) that didn’t go quite as well as I’d planned. At least we got a decent few days tooling around the western slope out of it.

Fall is generally the best time to ride bikes in Colorado. This year was no exception.

All in all, it was a pretty decent fall. Now, it’s off to Florida for the holidays and more adventures in warmer climates!

Here’s the video of our fall recap:
