The next few days of our trip had slightly less-than-ideal weather… Not bad, just not up to “hanging out on the beach and get in the water” standards. So we found other things to do.

Blowing Rocks Nature Preserve has long been one of my favorite places to go just north of West Palm. It’s got some super cool rocks right on the edge of the water, and watching the waves come in and out of the rocks is always mesmerizing. In doing some research, I discovered that there’s another beach with similar rock formations just south which we hadn’t been to, so we decided to go to Coral Cove Beach Park instead.

Those rocks were (I dare say) even cooler than the ones at Blowing Rocks. And we actually ended up walking up the beach to Blowing Rocks anyway, so we got to see both of the areas. As much as I love sitting and chilling out on beaches, sometimes it’s also cool to see something a little bit different!

After our beach walk, we realized the Jupiter Lighthouse was really close to where we were. We’d never actually been up in it (and we love lighthouses), so over we went.

It was a bit windy on top, but the views were awesome. There was also a little museum with some of the history that was really cool as well.

A few days later, we were looking for something else to do. I came across a place called Manatee Lagoon, where Florida Power and Light has a plant that dumps warm water into the Intracoastal and manatees come to warm up in the winter, which seemed cool, so we went. We saw a few manatees for sure, and we tried valiantly to capture them with cameras, but we had a hell of a time with the glare on the water. We managed to get a little video of some of them coming up for air to breathe, at least.

This was the best view of manatees that we got!

When we were done searching for manatees, we headed to The Old Key Lime House just further down the way for lunch. I’d heard of the place, and my aunt was wearing one of their shirts a few days before and highly recommended it.

Oh. My. GOD. The grilled grouper tacos were awesome, but the KEY LIME PIE….. I guess when it’s your namesake, it’d better be good. Needless to say, we rolled out of there, stuffed to the gills with key lime goodness.

Most of this is better in video form. Here’s the link:
