I always get a little bit sad when a trip is coming to an end. I get all sappy, and start wanting to do all the things “one last time.”

We took full advantage of our last few days down south. We went to the beach a couple more times and I actually got in the water! It was actually warm enough that I didn’t get turned off. I got to read books and chill out to the sounds of the ocean crashing, which is one of my very favorite things to do.

We went on a bike ride with my aunt and uncle, which was really fun. My aunt Lourdes and I used to go for bike rides together most times I was in Florida, but it had been years. It was great to bring back some memories. We also managed to get out on the road bikes, which we dragged all the way down to Florida years ago when my mom first moved to West Palm. We found this awesome crushed gravel path right along a canal and had ourselves a great little ride!

We also went snorkeling – there’s a beach park (Phil Foster, it’s called) under the Singer Island bridge that actually has some wildlife. We saw some stingrays, which were really cool. Okay, Matt saw them. I got to see the videos afterwards. Dammit.

I even got to see one last sunrise on the beach. Matt had to work a few days of our last week, so I dragged myself out to watch the sun come up over the ocean again. ALWAYS worth it.

We got to eat at our favorite spots one last time and come up with some new favorites. And we went out for sushi alone together for the first time in our lives. That’s been awhile…

In all, we had a wonderful trip. It was long, it was relaxing, and we pretty much got to do everything we wanted. As always, I’ll miss being warm, and I’ll miss my long reading sessions on the beach. Thankfully, this time, we’re headed back south in a few short months. But that’s another story for another day.

Here’s the whole story:
