Day 10: St. Kitts

We docked in St. Kitts this morning. We had another shore excursion today, this one with my family. We had breakfast and off we went.

After loading up on various buses, we started driving across the island. We stopped at Timothy Point, where the Atlantic and the Caribbean meet. You could clearly see the rougher waters of the Atlantic and the super calm waters of the Caribbean… So pretty!

The Atlantic on the left, Caribbean on the right. The Atlantic was way choppier than the Caribbean.

We continued our tour around the island, then stopped at Caribelle Batik. There was a tiny botanic gardens and the batik is actually made there. They were on display everywhere. The fabrics were beautiful!

Then we got a pretty cool surprise. We didn’t realize we were going to, but we stopped at the Palm Court, which is an old estate or something where there’s a pool and a bar. You can actually pay for a day pass there and hang out if you’re in town on a cruise. While we were there, they gave us some appetizers and the best fruit punch I’ve ever had. Everything was really good!

The buses took us back to the ship, where we had actual lunch back on the Equinox. We had a discussion as to whether or not we should go back out, and we decided not to. It was a national holiday (Memorial Day), and as we learned yesterday, these people take their days of rest (and holidays) seriously.

We hung out by the pool again instead.

In the afternoon, we got ready for dinner and went to the Passport Bar for a drink. I hadn’t had a cosmo in years…

We caught yet another amazing sunset… Then dinner and a show, and to bed. Two more days on board.

Day 11: At Sea 🌊

Ahhh, back to chill time. We’re tired. Breakfast, then chill time by the pool. Then lunch. We ran upstairs, got plates of salad , and ate lunch by the pool. The cruise staff then had a little game show, a hilarious group of activities hosted by Lewis the cruise director that resulted in people getting thrown in the pool.

We swung by the Sunset Bar and had a drink. I should know better than to order a margarita at not a Mexican restaurant.

Then back to the room to chill before dinner – it’s formal night (excuse me, Evening Chic) tonight!

I clean up alright sometimes.

We went to the Martini 🍸 Bar before we met my family for dinner. Dirty martini, YUM! And dinner tonight was lobster, more YUM!

The show tonight was some comedy thing, which isn’t our thing, so we skipped it. We went to the casino for a bit and finally managed to lose our $10 after being up to $3.

Day 12: At Sea 🌊

Last day! I never want to get off the ship!  More pool time and  hamburgers for lunch. Just after, we sailed into a squall – rain falling sideways, lightning, thunder, the whole nine yards. Kinda fun, actually. But it got cold and we gave up and went back to the room.

After awhile, we got up and went out and wandered the ship. Had a beer at the Oceanview Bar. At some point, we hit the World Class Bar, which we hadn’t gotten to yet. Then dinner and show. The show was called Life. Last hurrah for the singers and dancers. Fun. Then we went to the Ensemble Lounge one last time. Keff was playing, a Columbian kid that’s really good on guitar. Then bed. Tomorrow, we disembark.

Day 13: Port Everglades

Back to the US. We watched the sun come up while we had breakfast on the back deck of the ship. It was beautiful!

Then we went and gathered the last of our stuff and headed out to the theater to wait to get off the ship. It was pretty smooth, actually. We didn’t have to wait all that long, and we found my parents fairly easily at the baggage claim.

We walked out and went to go get the car… And quickly learned that we were parked at the wrong lot. 🙄 $150 later, we got the car out and picked up my parents and our stuff. We were home before 10:00 am.

We picked up some pizzas for lunch and then went to the beach 🏝️.  When we got back, Mom made dinner and we ate and chilled out. We’re tired. Glad we have a few more days before heading home.
