We’d reached the end of the road. One last hurrah in Santa Fe, and then we had to go home. I woke up pretty early that last morning at White Sands, and had some coffee. Eventually, Matt got up, had some coffee of his own, and we broke down camp. We scarfed some bagels for breakfast and were on our way. SantaFe bound!
We took the Scenic Drive, which literally just added 15 minutes to our drive, and hit the road. We stopped for gas and bathrooms once, and arrived into SantaFe fairly early. We found a place to park and started walking around.
We wandered for a while – this is such a cool town. We found the oldest church in the country and the main plaza and all kinda of cool stuff.

We stopped at Coyote Cantina and had a drink. Would have liked to sit outside on the rooftop deck, but it was damned cold outside… The margarita was good at least. We finally made it back to the car and drove to our hotel.
The Lodge at SantaFe is nice. It’s a bit further out of town than I would have liked, but it’s nice. And you get a free drink each night you’re here, which is nice.
We had our free beer and went to a brewery for dinner. Hidden Mountain Brewery was not bad, if a bit out of town. The food was good, the beer was okay…

Now, we’re back to the hotel watching the Broncos hopefully beat the Bills on Monday Night Football…..
I fell asleep, of course. But we won!!!!!
The next morning, I woke up at 5:07 or something and figured I’d close my eyes for five minutes and be awake… It was 7:03 when I opened them again. Nice. I made a cup of coffee in the Keurig and chilled for a bit.
We got moving and went to breakfast at The Pantry Rio. Yum! After that, we did a walking tour that I’d found online – problem was, we’d walked most of it yesterday. We found a couple new places, anyway, and had a decent morning wandering around.

Back at the hotel, I worked on videos for a while. Sadly, my external drive took a decided not to work, and that was frustrating as hell.
After showers, we headed out to the Railyard District for drinks and dinner. Second St. Brewing and Santa Fe Brewing to sample some beers, the. La Choza for dinner. I had the tamales with red chile – holy shit, that was still spicer than I thought it would be. The margaritas were really good, at least. Dinner wasn’t bad, it was just a lot.

Back at the hotel, we stopped by the front desk for our free drinks, and we each got a beer. We chatted with the guy at the counter, Perry, for a bit. We *might* have mentioned it was our anniversary trip – and totally got comped a bottle of champagne!
Now we’re back in our room, watching basketball on tv…. Good night!
Homeward bound today.
We got ourselves together and decided not to wait around for the breakfast place I wanted to go to open, decided we’d just stop on the road somewhere.
We stopped in Las Vegas. Las Vegas, New Mexico, actually. We found a lovely little greasy spoon which hit the spot. I even had eggs over easy, to throw Matt for a loop. Think that was a first. Oh, yeah, we took a lap around the old historic plaza area of the town before stopping. It was really cute! I had almost forgotten.

The rest of the drive was nothing to write home about. We got home, ordered pizza, ate, showered, and headed to our friends’ house to pick up Pivot. Hung out for a while, and headed home.
What a trip!!!!
