We were in Ohio visiting Matt’s parents for a bit, and we had an extra day to see if we could make a video of somewhere cool. It occurred to me to go to Lebanon, this super cute historic town not too far away where I used to go with my parents when I was a kid. I had all kinds of memories from there, and I was curious to go back and see it as an adult.

After breakfast at Matt’s parent’s house, we did what we needed to do and left for Lebanon. The weather was iffy, but it got slightly better as we pulled into town. We found a place to park, and started our wander.

Coffee at the in-laws.

We started at the old train depot, which we later learned had been torn down then replaced by moving a historic building from a nearby town to keep the spirit of the railroad alive. Today, there is a scenic railroad (the LM&M) that runs a tourist train around town.

We headed over to the Floraville Historic District, where we walked the streets and checked out the cool old houses that were there. They were SO pretty, with wide lawns that were ever so green, and just the different architecture across the different houses was super cool.

We kept wandering and found a cool old Shell station, complete with antique looking gas pumps, and then made our way to the main drag of town, where we stuck our heads in lots of windows, trying to see inside. Unfortunately, it was Monday, and apparently most shops in town are closed on Mondays. Sad, but it happens.

Luckily, the Broadway Barrel House on the far end of town was open, and we had a lovely time chilling out on the patio (thankfully, the weather held and it was REALLY nice out) and having a beer and a snack before we continued our wandering.

We wandered around some more after that, making our way towards our lunch spot, and saw more cool buildings, including a salon that was aptly named “Slightly North on Broadway…” We had a good chuckle at that one.

We headed to the Golden Lamb, which is Ohio’s longest running business and a really good restaurant and hotel, and went to the Black Horse Tavern for lunch. The charcuterie board we had was absolutely amazing, with picked peaches and awesome ham and cheese selections.

After lunch, we stopped by the Beedle Log Cabin, an outdoor museum-type park where you can check out the cabin, which is the oldest house as well as standing structure in Warren County. It’s been moved to its current location and preserved. Pretty neat!

When we’d taken ALL the pictures, we headed back to the car to head back home. Just in the nick of time, too, because it started raining as soon as we started driving!

All in all, this was a super cool little day trip, and if you ever find yourself in southwest Ohio, it’s absolutely worth a stop!
