Thankfully, we didn’t have to rush out anywhere this morning, we could have breakfast at the hotel and chill out by the pool in the morning, which we did. After showers, it was time for our (FREE!!) pisco tour with PeruHop

We got picked up at the Wild Rover and headed to Pisco Nietto, where we got a short tour and explanation as to how pisco is made, and we got to taste both some of the wine that Nietto makes as well as some straight pisco. That stuff is strong! We did like the wine enough to buy a bottle, which was kinda like a port wine. We had lunch at the distillery, and went back to Huacachina.

We wandered around for a little bit, sat for a bit by the pool at our hotel, which we’d checked out of, but they were cool like that. When it was time, we grabbed our stuff and went back to Wild Rover, where we checked our bags again and went on another tour.

Oy. Dune buggies. I’m still not sure how I feel about the whole experience. They punched those things up the dunes and back down the other side to the point where my stomach did the drop out from under you roller coaster thing. I couldn’t even look, but the other people on the tour seemed to like it.

We stopped in between drives and went sand boarding. I wasn’t going to do it, but after the first ride back down a dune to pick up those that had, I realized sliding down the dunes on a board was way less scary than being driven down. We stopped at three or four dunes and slid down. That was fun! Then we stopped one more time to watch the sun set over the dunes, which was beautiful. There was one more hair-raising drive back to the starting point, and we were done.

We walked back to Wild Rover, grabbed our stuff, got on the bus, and took off for Paracas.

It took longer than expected to get there, and I was in contact with our guesthouse about when we would arrive. We squeaked in to town at like 8:45, and we grabbed our stuff again and walked the seven minutes from the bus to the guest house. We checked in, dropped our stuff, and walked to the little gas station and grabbed chips and cookies for dinner. Yum. Healthy.

Then It was bed. We were tired!
